Gift-giving and holidays are closely interconnected and they might be
treated as something inseparable. Most workers, public or private, are
entitled to take the day off with regular pay when there is a public
holiday legislated either through the federal, provincial, or
territorial governments. When the holiday falls on the weekend, the
following work day is considered a public holiday. The first day of
the year is New Year's Day. The 1st of July is Canada Day. Remembrance
Day is on 11th of November, Christmas- 25th of December and Boxing
Day-26th of December. These are the holidays most important with a
fixed date of celebrating. There also a number of regional holidays
peculiar to this or that territory. For more information concerning
the holidays of the province you are going to stay in, visit
www.pch.gc.ca.
Some cities and areas
also have their own public holidays that are celebrated only within
the definite city/area.
