CANADA: DINING
You will be surprised to get to know that there is no such culinary phenomenon as 'Canadian Cuisine' but do not be upset as there some dishes Canadians can be proud of and consider them to be typically Canadian culinary achievements. They are the following: poutine, Nanaimo bars, buttertarts, beaver tails, and fiddleheads. But do not rack your brains over an attempt to learn all these names by heart. There are a lot of other dishes for all tastes. There are numerous restaurants everywhere in Canada but we recommend you to visit the Chinese-Canadian restaurant found practically in every small town. There you will be able to taste Chinese food prepared in order to satisfy the Western desire for fast food. The best adviser for your is the brochure given in every hotel with detailed description of the restaurants, their location and prices. Once you come to the restaurant or night club, taste the Canadian cocktail the Caesar (Vodka, Clamato juice, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce) and you will feel real Canadian! Just be aware that the drinking age is 19 in Canada.
