2.47. Rubric
A rubric is a formalized paper, developed by teachers and instructors, which provides assessment criteria for the particular types of works. The principle of continuous assessment requires flexible rubrics, designed for each separate assignment, but the number of criteria for different activities may vary.
There are two major types of rubrics - analytical and holistic. The holistic rubric is more suitable when assessing a less important type of work like answers to questions during control lessons, as it has one "general" score. The analytical rubrics should be developed for terms papers, take-home exams and other parts of schedule, which will appear determinants of students' grades. The analytical rubric has several criteria and thus several scores. For instance, if the maximal grade for the paper is 20, the teacher can develop the following rubric: Organization - 5, Style -5, Focus on the issue - 10.
